Cuppy Cake!

I am Zoe Teo From 3E2. Down this week is the Racial Harmony Week, our school had participated actively in this project
in search for different ethic food from ASEAN countries. I went to Marina Bay this evening, 26th July 2009 at "MAKANSUTRA GLUTTON BAY"
to search for the different food.

Satay was supposedly invented by Javanese street vendors, based on satay becoming popular after the influx of Arab immigrants in the early 19th century.
The satay meats used by Indonesians and Malaysians, mutton and beef, are also favoured by Arabs and are not as popular in China as are pork and chicken.

Satay, is a dish consisting of diced or sliced chicken, goat, mutton, beef, pork or fish. The more authentic version uses skewers from the midrib of the coconut leaf, although bamboo skewers are often used.
These are grilled or barbecued over a wood or charcoal fire, then served with various spicy seasonings. Turmeric is a compulsory ingredient used to marinate satay, which gives the dish its characteristic yellow colour. Meats commonly used include beef, mutton, pork, venison, fish, shrimp, squid, chicken. Satay is served with a spicy peanut sauce dip, or peanut gravy, slivers of onions and cucumbers, and ketupat (rice cakes).

I had ordered this plate of satay which includes 10 sticks of Chicken & 5 sticks of Mutton. It had cost me a total of $10.
I find it reasonable as it is really delicious, especially it's spicy peanut sauce. It is very rich with chopped peanuts
and it is not very spicy. I feel that the essence of Satay lies in its sauce, followed by its marination of the meat.
The mutton was marinated with herbs, and it is very important to choose a young lamb because lamb under 3 to 5 months old,
has a milder and a more tender meat. I would prefer the Mutton Satay to the Chicken as mutton has a stronger taste compared
to chicken. I like its strong Herb taste and it goes well better with the Peanut sauce.
Therefore, i would strongly recommend this 'foodstreet' MAKANSUTRA GLUTTON BAY at Marina Bay, Esplanade as it had other
variety of local dishes such as Oyster Omelette, Fried Prawn Noodles, Char Kuay Teow, Fried Carrot Cake, Roti Prata,
Mee Rubus, Pineapple Rice etc...
