Hey there I’m shristi from 3E2.And as we all know Singapore is celebrating the food festival for racial harmony. This is the time to try out varieties of foods from different ethnic group of our neighboring countries of Singapore. Since I had a assignment to do I went to try thai food with my friends in marina square on Friday 23 july at the food court , I could not find the food that we wanted to eat so we decided to go thai express instead with dewi and hira. Thai Express is a chain of restaurants serving Thai cuisine in Singapore. The first restaurant was opened in Holland village in Singapore in May 2002 .Since then, there have been other outlets in Malaysia, Indonesia China, Australia, New Zealand and Mongolia. A restaurant review characterise Thai Express as breaking "away from the traditional Thai style of communal dining by serving items in individual portions for those who may want to dine alone." "In place of fine dining, which may be intimidating to some, Thai Express is all about being fresh, contemporary and fuss-free."The typical casual and mordern decor of the restaurant is glass partitions with wooden chairs of Scandinavian style design. A lot of dishes on the thai menu have already won awards and about 95% of the food that we order are basically cooked .As you can see in the picture it has a nice and comfortable environment and the staff their also were friendly. There is also a Buddha statue, which symbolizes Thailand. The manager told us that the purpose of the statue was to bring prosperity for the restaurant as well as to beautify the restaurant.

Without wasting any time we quickly ordered the Gai Phat Pet Ched Nam Ta (Bangkok chicken rice with special thai ginger chilli sauce) $9.90, they serve a portion of rice together with it so we had to order only 2 more rice for the three of us costing about $1.20. This dish most famous in Bangkok Thailand and many other parts of the world. It has attracted many tourists to try out this food as it has a very unique taste and a very well known dish. Before we confirmed our order, the waiter warned us on the spiciness of the dish. As I recall he had said, ‘many of the customers have cried before, upon trying the dish.’ To our surprise, tears welled up in our eyes as we took our first bite. But the food had a very aromatic smell of ginger, turmeric and not forgetting the HOT chilli. Since it was served hot, the taste of the chicken with the spiciness and ginger lingered in our tongue for hours after eating it. The chicken was very tender and juicy as well. (EXCELLENT FOOD TO TRY OUT WHICH CAN BLOW YOUR MIND).

The Thai Tom Yum Talay (Tom yum soup with seafood) $6.90.Whenever Thailand is mention nobody forgets the thai soup tom yum soup. Thai tom yum soup is perhaps one of the most famous dishes in Thai cuisine. It is widely served in neighboring countries such as Malaysia , Singapore and Indonesia and has been popularized around the world. Tom yum is characterized by its distinct hot and sour flavors, with fragrant herbs generously used. The food has great aroma of lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal shallots, lime juice, ginger and other fresh ingredients. There were seafood added also such as prawns, squid, fish and mushrooms too not forgetting it was topped with generous sprinkling of fresh chopped coriander so I quicky took snaps of it and started tasting it as I could not control anymore..The tom yum soup had such a great taste of sour and spiciness and it’s texture was orange and yellow which was really appetizing that we could not stop ourself from having it although it was really really spicy. The flavor was well grinded with the taste of all the seafood and the lemon grass and other herbs gave the special extra flavor to it. This is a special must try dish as its worth it and you can share with your friends and families

I think that it was worth trying out all of these as it was a complete meal for the three of us and it cost only a total of $ 19.80 including the GST of 10% $1.80 and it filled all of our stomach. I think the money was worth it for a restaurant as each of us had to pay just $6.60 each. So I would like to encourage those who like spicy flavor food and a good environment they should go try at the thai express in marina square at shopping mall and enjoy the real taste of spiciness of thai food. I will give the food rating of 8.5/10 as the food was good as well as the environment and the staffs there were friendly too.(WARNING THOSE WHO CAN’T TAKE SPICY FOOD PLEASE DON’T TRY IT IF NOT YOU WILL REGRET IT) hahas. But still I would like everyone to try thai food once in their life time may it be spicy or not. Thai food deserves to be tried….
