Tay Li Hun [3E2] Food Fes Project

I am TayLiHun of class 3e2.I went to Lau Pa Sat on 16/7/08 for this project. I ordered a 'Fen Yuan Soup' to represent the few famous food in singapore.'Fen Yuan Soup' is a traditional soup edited from the soup 'Tang Yuan'.It is made of jelly powder and starch. It's sweet taste and light aroma is loved by most chinese and became a popular dessert. It cost about $2 a bowl.
After that, I went around La Pa Sat to take a look and discovered the history of it. I am amazed how well the culture is kept and I have definitely learnt about how the past market place looks like.It is a worthy trip made.

AsthinaTan ; 3N4

The main signboard
Fried Kway Teow
The Noodle

The Fried Kway Teow I've eaten are located at Hougang Avenue 8, Blk 644.
The cost are $2.50- $3.
Its quite cheap, and it worth to eat.
The ingredients contains fishcake, noodle, sausage, black sauce.
I think is a nice food.

Set of roti prata meal

I recently had a plain roti prata in one of the indian stalls at a certain hawker centre in Upper thomson road. It cost me about $1.50, plus with the beverage component of an Teh Tarik which costs me around 80 cents. The price is surprisingly more than reasonable, and yes the taste its simply amazing, let me briefly describe more about it...
The 'prata's meat' is kinda succulent, plus adding this warm curry to it makes an excellent taste of satisfication. Adding any assorted flavours like with onions or eggs literally improves the taste.
without any second thoughts, i think i might wanna come back to eat this prata again whenever i drop by. ( Sheng hong is here)
trivia: i usually eat the entire leftover curry after finishing my last piece of prata, i had more than 3 pieces that day, and like eating onion prata.

LIYING-F&N 3N4

this is the fried kway diao i eat at newton . the kway diao quite nice stil got prawn . but the disadvantge is that they use disposable plate and cutlery . advantage is they can throw away after eating finish . price are quite expensive , unlike the normal hawker centre . it cost me $4 to eat this plate of fried kway diao . i think i will not go there and eat anymore .
This is the 1 of the famous food in singapore.this food can be found at lau pa sak at near the Raffles place. The price is very reasonable, it just cost about 5 dollars. The taste of this ba ku teh is very delicious as the soup taste a little bit spicy because they put pepper in it, the pork ribs is very soft and tender. I think if you all have time you shold try it out.

CHAY KWAY TEOW AT FORK & SPOON(GAMER DEAD:RIZAL)

ok, here is my blog review. Out of the top ten food, I choose chay kway teow, at fork and spoon food court cause it is the nearest food court I can find in my area. Ok, time to talk bout the food, Chay Kway Teow, the taste was nice, not that spicy, it is sweet but oily.

The Chay Kway Teow that I ate at fork and spoon consist of bean sprout, small chicken meat, eggs, vegetable and a little bit of seafood in it and they used dark soya sause in this dish too....
Overall the feeling is nice, tasty to eat but not that spicy....

It cost me $3.80 for the dish...
and i think it is reasonable...
and i think i will eat it again someday... (from: Gamer Dead Rizal)

I went to Food Republicat City Hall .I ate plain prata that coct me $2.40.The gravy were curry fish head and it taste spicy.I love the gravy. The prata taste nice as it was spongy and easy to eat.The prata were also not oilly as it has been reduced by the maker of prata .Prata were also healthier to eat . I also love the prata but i don't the price as it was expensive. The prata were not worth it as was expensive and small. One parta cost me $1.20.With $2.40 ,i could buy 3 prata at nearer prata shop at Toa payoh .Here , i concluded that the prata were nice and healthier to eat but only the prices were expensive ! So , i think i would not come again to Food Republisc but if i need to bring a foreign to try a ethnic food ,I would bring them...

Hainanese Chicken Rice[Food Republic]

This picture shows the Hainanese chicken rice I ate at Food Republic which is located at Suntec City's Convention Centre. The dish comprises of roasted chicken garnished with cucumber, tomatoes and lettuce topped with light soy sauce, a bowl of rice and a bowl of cabbage soup. While the cost may be more than what the average customer expects to pay, about $4.50-$7,the dish was surprising tasty. The meal was prepared well, the chicken being tender and went very well with the light and chili sauces. The rice tasted better than the normal rice as it is cooked with chicken stock and other special ingredients.Overall,I think that Hainanese Chicken Rice deserves a high position in Singapore's most popular foods. However, the right place, taste and price is needed in order to truly experience the true flavour of this dish.

Roti Prata From Food Republic

I brought a Roti Prata from Food Republic at Wisma Atria.

It was fried with cheese egg.

It taste quite delicious and it smell very very nice.

It also very easy to chew.^^*

It was only $3.00.I think it was a reasonable price.

Seriously I also don't know how much it should costs.

But i still bought it.=P

However, the curry was not taste nice.

It taste a bit bitter.-.-

I think I might want to eat this again~

Laksa from Food Republic(Liying 3E2)

I went to Food Republic which is located at Suntec City.Under the recommendation of the chef of the stall I brought a bowl of Laksa. This noodle soup dish is easily available at many food outlets in Singapore.Price ranging from $2.50 to $3.50,this stall's Laksa was quite expensive as compared to other food outlets as it cost $4.20.
The taste on the other hand was not up to standard as the surface of the gravy was covered with oil.The bean sprouts were half cooked. The only thing worth complementing was the noodle , it was nicely done.
I wouldn't recommend this store's Laksa as the taste is below average as compared to other market's Laksa.

The chicken rice in Lao Pa Sat...=.="

I was carrying a excited feeling to explore more about Lau Pa Sat,as i have seen a lot of people lining up for the food served there when i was young. However, when i reached there, there were not much people around, and the time was about 3:20pm,supposing to have lots of people to be crowding aroung.Soon, i later drop by at a chicken rice shop to buy a plate of chicken rice.To my astonishment, a plate of it actually cost $3.80!!But seeing that the shopkeeper is very friendly , i bought it. When the first spoon of chicken rice went into my watering mouth, i am not disappointed, but not enjoying it either. The reason is simple, it did not taste better than the other chicken rice shop at other markets...Under a sense of disappointment, i asked my mother who had accompany with me to take this photo.

Hainanese Chicken Rice...

Hainanese Chicken Rice could easily be found in any coffee shop. I went to Food Republic(Suntec City) for this chicken rice, the vendor sells their Hainanese Chicken Rice in plates(S$3+/-) or sets(S$6+).The price of the Hainanese Chicken Rice was quite costly, I thought. As I think that the quality of it is about the same as compared to what I have eaten before. The one that I had ordered was a set, it consist a plate of chicken, boiled kai-lan with oyster sauce, rice and soup(not in the picture). The chicken is very tender and goes well with the dark soy sauce they provided. The rice that accommodate with the boiled or roasted chicken is known as ''oily rice''. Some stalls serve side dishes like hard boiled egg, chicken liver and vegetables for their customers.

Fried kwap tiao( in lau pau sat)

I went to lau pau sat for eating the fried kwap tiao. At first, i was scared that i had bought the wrong one that is not nice to eat. But to my suprise, this fried kwap tiao tastes quite nice, the food proportion is just the right one, it is not so oily too but then it had too much cockles however, it looks likes it is famous for its kwap tiao. The price of the food is quite reasonable, it costs $3 same as other fried kwap tiao stalls. However,to sum up it is worthwhile coming back to eat again but u may want to suggest the stall-holder to put less cockles or don't add any.

Singapore Food Festival

The Roti Prata that I bought at Lau Pa Sat was not very delicious and the Roti Prata was extremely hard to tear and chew, and they gave plastic cutlery which could break easily. However, I was disappointed for choosing Lau Pa Sat, because the taste of the Roti Prata there was not what I had expected it to be.The price for one Roti Prata was $0.70 and it was quite reasonable because almost every other place sell Roti Prata at that around that price, but the Roti Prata at other place taste better, is much softer and much easier to chew.
